We’re feeling sorry for Neil Young, having received several tips yesterday about his new official Twitter account along the lines of ‘look, even old goats like him are on Twitter nowadays’. Young, of course, is far from a luddite, even if his technology interests have focused more on high-definition audio rather than social media. Anyway, GigaOm struck a bum note with its write-up criticising Young’s “small stream of promotional pap” and “such blatant commercial tactics from an artist who famously refuses to license his songs to advertisers”. Some people are never pleased.
