That’s what comScore is claiming in a new study, suggesting that Instagram had more daily active smartphone users in the US in August than Twitter – 7.3m to 6.9m. And also that Instagram users spent an average of 257 minutes in its app, versus 170 minutes for Twitter’s users. That said, over the month, Twitter had more unique smartphone users in the US – 29m to Instagram’s 22m. So Twitter might have more mobile users in the US – and let’s not forget a number of desktop users that almost certainly puts Instagram’s into the shade – but Instagram users access the photo-sharing site more often and spend more time there.
