Google is launching new features for its Google Play store on Google TV connected televisions, including music. “Google Play Movies, TV shows, and Music will be rolling out to your Google TV over the next few weeks,” explains the company in a blog post. That means Google TV owners will be able to buy and play music downloads on their TVs, as well as playing the songs they’ve already bought on other devices. It’s part of an expansion of Google’s music retailing across a range of devices, although with relatively few Google TVs having been sold so far, the impact for the music industry is still more likely to come from Android smartphones and tablets.
