Megaupload boss Kim Dotcom remains in New Zealand pending extradition proceedings, and now he’s failed in an attempt to dodge criminal charges in the US. Megaupload’s lawyers had claimed that the US has no jurisdiction over the cloud storage service, since it doesn’t have an address there and so can’t be served a criminal summons. A US district judge thinks otherwise, ruling this week that the lack of an address “does not require a result so extreme as dismissal” of the indictment. The case continues, although it’s anyone’s guess when (or if) Dotcom will face trial in the US.
