Web analytics company Beevolve has been digging into data from 36m Twitter profiles, to try to draw some conclusions about how people use the service. “Women tweet more than men; gals tweet about family and fashion while guys tweet about tech and sports; women like purple backgrounds while men prefer dark ones,” reports GigaOm. More interestingly, 25% of Twitter users have never tweeted, the average number of followers is 208, and 81% of users have less than 50 followers. Another indication that a lot of people are just using Twitter to read tweets rather than post themselves.
