There’s a new Spotify app in town, and it’s called H1tchr. We’re assuming that’s pronounced ‘Hitcher’. The app tries to pull artist biographies, credits and photos related to whatever song you’re currently playing on the streaming service, with sources including Wikipedia, Discog.org and The Echo Nest. Digital Music News isn’t impressed, claiming it couldn’t get the app to work. We’ve had no problems this morning: it’s pulling all the data in for a number of artists that we tried. Is it interesting? Hmm. The idea of bringing credits back to songs is good, but none of them are linked: you can’t click on, say, the producer of one song to see what other records they’ve been involved with.
