Music TV that you control? That brings back happy memories of trying to sneak The Longpigs onto The Box in London back in ’96… BuzMuzik is a very 2012 take on the idea, though. Launched in the UK as a digital TV channel by CSC Media Group, it gets viewers to send messages and photos via Facebook, Twitter and SMS. They can also vote for songs, but they have to pay for this either via premium SMS, or Facebook Credits. An on-screen ‘request ladder’ fuels the voting fun, and there’s also a dedicated Facebook application. The channel has just launched, but already has 13,000 Facebook Likes, 24,000 Twitter followers and – perhaps inevitably – “multiple on-air marriage proposals since launch”. BuzMuzik will get more interactive features in the months ahead, including ‘Hot or Not’ ratings for videos while they air.
