Twitter has some serious questions to answer about its policy towards any service that it perceives as a threat. We reported last week on Pheed, a new social networking service that lets some users – including a number of music artists – charge fans to subscribe. No sooner had it started to pick up steam, with 1m signups, than Twitter cut off its ability to let people sign in using their Twitter IDs. “It seems we got temporarily blocked by Twitter. This might affect your Twitter Connect options. We hope this will be resolved shortly,” said Pheed (yes, on Twitter). “We are in communication with Twitter support hoping to resolve the Twitter Connect issue shortly, sorry for any inconvenience.”
