Last night’s launch of the former’s Windows Phone 8 software showed lots of love to manufacturer HTC, but there was also a surprise: a deal with Pandora to provide a year’s ad-free access to the personal radio service for every (US) Windows Phone 8 buyer. That will compete directly with Nokia’s own Nokia Music app and its Mix Radio feature, which has been pitched as a key selling point for the company’s Windows Phones. Windows Phone 8 handsets from HTC, Nokia and Samsung will be going on sale worldwide this side of Christmas.
