
US media firm Clear Channel’s parent company reported its latest financial results on Friday, complete with some new stats on the growth of its iHeartRadio service. “We continue to grow our digital platform with iHeartRadio’s mobile app now totaling 125 million downloads and upgrades,” said EVP and CFO Tom Casey in Clear Channel’s analyst call, before elaborating further. “We have seen our total listening hours up. I believe it is over 100% year over year… It’s a much broader offering than others, and we’re getting great traction with it. So we’re encouraged by early results. We’re one of the fastest services to get to 10 million users.” That said, Casey stressed that digital listening is still only 5% of Clear Channel’s radio business, with 95% still coming from traditional terrestrial stations.
