BandPage – the digital marketing platform formerly known as RootMusic – has taken another step away from its reliance on Facebook, with the launch of BandPage Connect. It’s a button that enables musicians to “instantly connect their BandPage profile to some of the biggest social and music platforms across the web for free”. The idea being that the service becomes the hub to which they upload photos, tracks and other content, to then update the other sites connected to the profile. WordPress, PledgeMusic, Earbits and other sites are already on board, and there’s a new section on the site called BandPage Connect Center to spotlight others as they’re added. The idea of a hub to upload once and share content everywhere is well established in the music industry – remember the iLike Artist Dashboard? – but it will be interesting to see if BandPage’s 2012 take on the idea catches on.
