So, Halo 4 and Call of Duty: Black Ops II, which both came out in recent weeks. Halo 4 did $220m of sales on its first day alone, and the overall franchise has now generated lifetime revenues of more than $3.38bn. It was trumped by Universal Music Group’s sister company Activision last week though: its latest Call of Duty game raced to $500m of sales in its first 24 hours, $100m more than its predecessor. One more stat for you from the smartphone/tablet industry: Finnish developer Supercell is making nearly $750k a day from just two games, Hay Day and Clash of Clans. Not bad for a 60-person startup.
