Earlier this week, we reported on EMI’s launch of a David Guetta app on Spotify, powered by social music platform Soundrop. With the official announcement of that app out of the way, Soundrop is now free to shout about its own news: the launch of a software development kit (SDK) to help other labels and developers make apps using Soundrop’s APIs. “We’re enabling the next generation of music apps to be social by design,” says CEO Inge Andre Sandvik in a statement. “Soundrop is the perfect tool to create a more engaging app, and the SDK and platform make the whole process less stressful, easier and, we hope, a lot more fun.” Music Ally has talked to a few labels this week who were clearly intrigued by the PlayGuetta app and whether Soundrop would be opening up for other projects – we sense the company will be fielding a few incoming requests in the days ahead.
