Digital music service eMusic has launched an official iPhone app for its Infinite Explorations feature, which helps people find new albums to listen to on the service. Already available on eMusic’s website, the iPhone app is a free download on the App Store, and can be used by eMusic members and non-members alike. “Type in an artist’s name, and watch as Infinite Explorations works its magic—suggesting countless related artists worth checking out,” explains the App Store listing. CEO Adam Klein reckons the app is “a huge step forward in eMusic’s mission to crack the code on how digital music explorers can serendipitously uncover their next favourite artist or album” from the service’s catalogue of 17m songs. In truth, there are a lot of apps trying to do similar things with their own (or third-party) algorithms – but this is a nice add-on for eMusic. For now, it appears to be US-only.
