Italy was one of the first countries where ISPs were ordered to block their customers from visiting The Pirate Bay. Now two more torrent sites have been blacklisted by a court: Torrentreactor and Torrents. Anti-piracy body FPM claimed that the two sites had 600k and 320k Italian users respectively, while also turning up 1.7m links to infringing content on Torrentreactor, and 788k links on Torrents. There are also estimated figures for both sites’ annual revenues: $1.72m and $1.17m respectively. “The case is very important because the blocking actions are on the eve of Christmas sales, when all the new releases will come out,” industry body FIMI’s boss Enzo Mazza tells TorrentFreak. “We collected evidence on an increase of uploading of these new releases during the last week, and by blocking the sites we are limiting the impact of these illegal offerings.”
