Audio firm SoundCloud launched its ‘Next SoundCloud‘ revamp in private beta earlier this year (Bulletin, 10-May-12), but yesterday it opened up to all. “Today, the Next SoundCloud becomes SoundCloud for everyone,” explains the company’s blog post. “For your friends, fans and followers, the new SoundCloud will make discovering, connecting and sharing sounds even easier and more fun.” For now, this is a website revamp, but the company says it’s “working on all areas of the web and mobile apps so that you can enjoy SoundCloud as a cross-platform experience”. That’s important: CEO Alexander Ljung told the Le Web conference yesterday that SoundCloud’s future is highly mobile. Oh, and he revealed a new stat: 180m people a month are listening to, sharing or uploading audio to/on SoundCloud. Which makes tech industry site Business Insider’s “a site you’ve never heard of” headline unwittingly funny.
