When we reported on The Pirate Bay’s launch of a standalone PromoBay site to promote legal free downloads from artists earlier this month, we noted that the site had already been blocked by British ISPs. That block will now be lifted, after campaigning body the Open Rights Group complained to the BPI, having established that it was responsible for the block. “We therefore wrote to the BPI to ask them to correct the problem. They wrote back to say that they yesterday instructed ISPs to lift the block,” explains ORG, which claims the incident shows the need for greater transparency on what domains are being blocked. At the time of writing on Thursday morning, the site remains inaccessible on Virgin Media, though.
