Subscription music service Rhapsody is doubling down on mobile apps in the coming months, kicking off with a standalone app called SongMatch, which was released last night. It’s a , with other platforms to come. It uses Gracenote’s identification tech to pull up artist, song title and album for currently-playing songs in the real world that can be matched to its database. The app is for Rhapsody subscribers and non-subscribers alike, creating playlists of tagged tunes for the former, and offering a free trial to the latter. SongMatch is a free download, with more standalone apps to come in the next few months.
