Flurry has updated its holiday figures to cover the whole week between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day: “The largest week for both new device activations and app downloads in iOS and Android history”.
Flurry reckons that more than 50m new iOS and Android smartphones and tablets were activated during the final week of 2012, while 1.76bn apps were downloaded from Google and Apple’s app stores. Of those apps, 604m downloads came in the US, followed by China (183m) and the UK (132m). In separate news, ABI Research has estimated that 43.6bn apps were downloaded in the 12 months ending September 2012.
