Pandora remains enmeshed in a war-of-words over its payouts in the US, but the company is trying to shift the agenda back to its growth. In a blog post, founder Tim Westergren maintains that “the Pandora audience is large enough now to begin making a real difference in the lives of thousands of working artists”, producing some more stats on 2012 to prove it. Westergren writes that Pandora users listened to more than 1m different songs by more than 100k artists last year, with more than 10k artists reaching more than 250k unique listeners each. Pandora users also created more than 1.6bn stations on the service, while listening to more than 13bn hours of music. This, on top of metrics released earlier this month showing Pandora had 67.1m active listeners at the end of December 2012.
