We reported yesterday on the £3m of new funding for Musicmetric’s parent company Semetric. Now it’s announced a deal with Spotify to integrate data from the streaming music service into its analytics dashboard. That means labels and managers with access to Spotify Analytics will be able to overlay that data onto social media buzz, BitTorrent activity and other metrics for their artists provided through Musicmetric. “As the world’s leading streaming music site, combining Spotify’s data within Musicmetric Pro gives us a significant advantage,” says Semetric’s Marie-Alicia Chang. “Our detailed BitTorrent data sphere already eclipses anything available in the market place, and the addition of legal streaming information will enable our clients to benefit from the most advanced music analytics available anywhere.” The deal could be good news for Spotify too, as it continues in its efforts to show that streaming can pay off for artists as well as labels: the more people can play with its data, the better-informed the debate will be. Hopefully.
