comScore has published its latest Mobile Metrix data on iOS and Android apps in the US, publishing a top 10 based on monthly unique users. Facebook takes top spot with 85.6m users in the US, ahead of Google Maps’ 74.6m. The chart is a bit of a Googlefest, with Google Play (61.5m), Google Search (60.6m) and Gmail (53.9m) rounding out the top five. Then it gets interesting for music, with YouTube (52.6m) in sixth place, Pandora Radio (48m) in seventh and Apple’s iTunes (45.9m) in eighth. comScore doesn’t really elaborate on the figures, focusing on the grander scheme of things instead: “There is little doubt that the Brave New Digital World is upon us and more than ever before we’re seeing the existing norms of the PC-centric web being disrupted by mobile channels.” Pandora bigger than iTunes is just one sign of that.
