India-focused streaming music service Dhingana says its mobile apps have been downloaded 3.5m times so far. The company announced the milestone as it launched a new mobile website to make its service available through mobile browsers, with pretty much every feature included apart from playlist creation, which will follow in the next couple of months. Those 3.5m app users compare to 15m monthly active users for Dhingana, which is competing with rivals like Saavn and Gaana for the affections of fans of Indian music around the world. It’s not yet clear whether the ‘roadblock’ ads that Dhingana has been running with Universal Music (Bulletin, 7-Jan-13) will also appear on the new mobile website.
