It’s had a long run, but Harmonix’s Rock Band game won’t be getting any more new downloadable content (DLC) after 2 April this year. The developer announced the news on the game’s forum, while celebrating the fact that it’s released more than 4,000 songs for Rock Band players over 275 consecutive weeks, long past the original game’s heyday. The company says it’s stopping in order to transfer staff onto “several new titles in development”, but promises the Rock Band back catalogue will continue to be available, as will the forum. “As thanks to the community, we’re going to continue the ongoing DLC sale of 50% off over 1,100 songs so fans can continue to build their personal libraries from our back catalog,” explains Harmonix.
