apps

Their heyday may have been last year, but social video-sharing apps Socialcam and Viddy are still rolling out new features for their users. Socialcam 5.0 went live for iPhone yesterday, offering new “vintage video filters, custom titles, and soundtracks”. The relaunch also involves a new version of the app, now published by Autodesk, which acquired Socialcam last year. Rival Viddy has also updated its iPhone app with new features, including a redesigned user interface, and a doubling of the maximum video length from 15 to 30 seconds. There are more filters and soundtracks to customise clips, and an Explore section to help people find trending videos. Viddy recently fired its CEO and laid off a third of its staff, so will be hoping the new version of its app helps user numbers and activity pick up.
