Recommendation and discovery isn’t just for on-demand streaming music services. TuneIn, which has 40m active users streaming radio stations to their computers and phones, has launched its own personalised recommendation features. The idea: suggestions for stations that users will like, based on their existing habits. They’re currently available on the TuneIn website and in its iPad app, with other mobile apps to follow suit later in the year. TuneIn is also one of the launch partners for Google’s new Google+ sign-in initiative, but it’s the recommendation features that could be good news for its business – matching those seen in some rival apps like MPme.
