spotify movistar

You don’t need us to tell you about the Spanish music industry’s piracy problems in recent years. The performance of legal streaming services is thus being scrutinised even more closely there, to judge whether they can return recorded music revenues to growth. Spotify’s new partnership with telco Telefonica is big news, then. The company’s Movistar mobile brand will not only be offering Spotify Premium alongside its monthly mobile subscription packages, but it’ll be chopping the price in half: €4.99 a month rather than €9.99, for two years. Spotify has various marketing partnerships with ISPs and operators around Europe, but this new Telefonica deal sits alongside the streaming service’s recent agreement with Orange in Switzerland in reducing the price of its premium subscription. It’ll be interesting to see whether the Telefonica relationship can be extended to any of the operator group’s other markets in Europe and elsewhere in the world now.
