Streaming service Deezer has a brand new Android app in beta, with new discovery features the focus. Initially available as a direct download from Deezer’s website – although the final version will be made available on Google Play – the app’s UI has been revamped, with a predictive search feature to make it quicker to access songs and artists. There’s also a new “permanent mini-player”, which sits in the Android lock screen and notifications bar to help people control music while using other apps. “Android allowed us to innovate further hence enabling new music discovery features,” says Deezer’s head of mobile Matthieu Gorvan. The company is telling iOS users to “watch this space” for improvements to their app, although some features, the permanent mini-player among them, won’t be possible on Apple’s devices.
