Leefest

British music festival LeeFest has ambitions to expand to a 5,000-capacity event, and it’s taken to crowdfunding site Kickstarter to achieve it. The festival is aiming to raise at least £50k, with rewards including the ability for fans to join its ‘campfire cabinet’ to get involved in actually planning and running the annual event. “A community of creative and energetic people has been snowballing around the festival since it began. In order to grow the festival we were faced with a choice to sell out to big sponsors and investors, or do something different,” says LeeFest founder Lee Denny. “We owe our current success to the amazing individuals involved, so raising finance from the people and giving them creative control of the festival in return seemed perfect.” One day in, the project is currently nudging £6k in pledges.
