As manager of EDM duo Cazzette, Ash Pournouri was the man responsible for their deal last year to launch their debut album ‘Eject’ as an exclusive on Spotify (Bulletin, 9-Nov-12). Now it’ll be appearing on other digital services, after Pournouri announced plans to launch a new label called PRMD Records. Cazzette are one of the first artists signed to it, with Eject to be licensed through the new label to Island Def Jam’s 4th & B’way sub-label for distribution to iTunes and other services. PRMD is based in Stockholm, where it will include recording and video production facilities, with plans to open a New York office to tap into Stateside mania for all things EDM. How did that Spotify deal work for Cazzette though? Spotify tells Music Ally that Cazzette have notched up 19.4m total streams since the launch in November, including 8.4m alone for single ‘Beam Me Up’. Billboard adds that Cazzette’s Facebook Likes doubled from 42.9k at the start of November to 92.5k by last week, while the band went from an average of 1.5k attendees per live show to headlining an 8.5k-capacity gig in Mexico.
