Messaging app WhatsApp says it now has more than 200m active users. WhatsApp is currently generating an average of 8bn inbound and 12bn outbound messages a day, with Koum saying the company’s decision to start charging users $0.99 a year to use the app hasn’t led to users drifting away to rival free services. Meanwhile, Koum also said WhatsApp isn’t selling up just yet, despite rumours of a megabucks Google acquisition.
