Heard of Dave Days? The 21 year-old musician may not have a label deal, but he does have more than 1.7m subscribers to his two YouTube channels. Now he’s become the latest creator to work on an original TV series designed for distribution on Google’s video service. It’s called Writing Room, and is a 10-episode show that will be aired on the BadPlanet YouTube channel over 10 weeks. The idea according to Billboard: each week a different YouTube musician will team up with pro songwriters and producers to record a song and video, with the former then released on digital stores as a download, while also being packaged as a ‘Writing Room’ album with all 10 tracks. Talent management firm Big Frame is working with Days on the series, with the former’s co-founder Sarah Penna describing it as “a direct-to-purchase opportunity for artists on the show and giving fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the anatomy of songwriting”.
