UMG took a 31.7% share of combined physical and digital recorded-music trade revenues for 2012 as a whole, up from 27.9% in 2011. Then comes Sony Music (22.3%, up 0.4 percentage points); Warner Music Group (14.8%, down 0.3 percentage points); and EMI (7.1%, down 2.8 percentage points. Independent, though, accounted for a 24% market share, down 1.2 percentage points year-on-year. And publishing? Universal Music takes top spot here too with a 22.5% market share, ahead of EMI (19.2%), Warner Chappell (13.6%) and Sony/ATV (12%), although these are all pre-EMI divestment. Indies took a 32.7% share of the publishing market.
