Top Dog

It’s rare that Snoop Dogg (now Lion) gets beaten to the punch to try a new technology trend. For once, he has – although only just. Last month we wrote about an app called Major Lazer’s Lazergram, which was an Instagram-style photo-sharing app with lots of customisation. Now Snoop has worked with the same developer – US firm 99centbrains – to make a very similar app: Snoopify Sticker Camera. Strangely, it’s branded as Snoop Dogg on Apple’s App Store and Snoop Lion on Android’s Google Play. Anyway, the app functions much like Major Lazer’s: “Decorate your photos with never-before-seen graphics of Snoop, ranging from classic Snoop Dogg to Rasta-inspired Snoop Lion looks and phrases,” explains its App Store listing. “Tag all your photos with #snoopifyapp to join the fun!” It does look fun, but Snoop will need to be fully on board in promoting the app to his fans on social networks to give it a shot at success.
