Songkick is taking the next step towards making its Detour live-crowdfunding service widely available. Detour London has emerged from private beta, meaning that anyone in the English capital can now sign up, pledge for gigs and suggest artists they’d like to see play locally. Songkick’s Ian Hogarth revealed the news in a blog post, which also outlined the impact so far of the 1,000+ users of Detour in its private beta test. “Through their pledges, those 1000 fans have made 10 concerts happen,” wrote Hogarth, who is also chuffed that promoters are making use of the service, and that it’s branching out beyond music to comedy with a gig by Aziz Ansari. “Most importantly, we have seen over $100,000 in ticket sales generated across these Detour shows, more income for acts and promoters, and income that results from a more direct and authentic connection between artists and fans,” he wrote. The next step will be to take Detour to more cities in the UK.
