IDC has published its latest estimates for smartphone shipments in the first quarter of 2013. IDC pegs Android as taking a 75% share of smartphone shipments in Q1 (note, this is shipments, not sales) – 162.1m handsets – with iOS on 17.3% giving Google and Apple a 92.3% combined share. Meanwhile, Windows Phone has overtaken BlackBerry, but with 3.2% and 2.9% shares respectively, both platforms are still minnows on the smartphones world stage: 7m Windows Phones and 6.3m BlackBerry devices shipped in Q1 globally.
Windows Phone now bigger than BlackBerry (but still very small)
