Pew Internet has published the results of a survey of 802 parents and their teenagers – complemented by focus groups – aiming to find out how 12-17 year-olds’ use of social media is changing. 94% of teenagers have Facebook accounts, but Twitter and Instagram are on the rise – 12% to 26% and 0% to 11% between 2011 and 2012 respectively. Including 84% who post their interests including music, movies and books they like. 30% of teenage Facebook users also say they have celebrities, musicians or athletes in their network.
