It seems Twitter is getting its own station within the streaming radio service. One of the official promo images of Apple’s new personal radio service clearly shows a station called Trending on Twitter, with the Twitter #music branding as its icon. Twitter and Apple have a close relationship: Twitter was the first social network to be integrated into the iOS software, back in 2011 – a year before Facebook. The standalone Twitter #music app also plays nice with Apple’s iTunes store, enabling users to preview and buy songs from iTunes. The Trending on Twitter station for iTunes Radio makes us wonder if similar opportunities will be open to other music discovery apps. For example, SoundTracking and Band of the Day have both been feted by Apple in the past, and might work well as iTunes Radio stations.
