With plenty of enthusiastic self-publicists on its platform, Twitter’s new #FollowMe tool should do well. Produced with startup Vizify, it’s billed as “a highlight reel of your best moments on Twitter… a new way for everyone on Twitter to make instant highlight videos of their best photos, Vine videos, Tweets, topics and followers”. Users have to sign in to Vizify and authorise it to access their Twitter account. It then creates a slideshow of the content above, which can be tweaked by the user if they’re unhappy with their highlights. The music angle? There is one: music accompanies each #FollowMe slideshow, with tracks coming from a 1m-strong catalogue via a deal with RumbleFish. Expect every social media guru, ninja and samurai to be promoting their Vizify vid in the next day or two, with a few celebrities joining in the fun too. Oh, and us, obviously. For research purposes.
