The latest music artist exploring apps as a way to distribute their music is London band The Nyco Project, who bagged Arts Council England funding to turn their ‘The New Machine’ EP into an app for iOS and Android. The app features three songs, with each split into individual videos of the band members playing their parts in the locations where they were recorded (“from Mallorca to Norfolk”). Fans can solo and mute individual parts, while finding out more about the recordings. The app is part of a wider project called Musicjelly, which has seen Ben and Zahara from The Nyco Project travelling the UK and Europe recording and filming different musicians for an interactive installation. The mobile app is free to download on both iOS and Android.
