There’s a lot of chatter about apps to help people discover new music in 2013, but other apps are focusing more on helping fans keep up with the artists they already like.
iPhone app Seenth.is is an interesting-looking new example, promising to be “your new best friend that lets you know about the latest news from artists and most popular fan content from across the world”.
Fans can log in using their Facebook IDs (although it’s not mandatory) and then sign up to follow favourite artists and festivals. The app then pulls in their official updates from services including SoundCloud, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook, as well as a separate ‘Fan Feed’ of news stories, videos and photos created by other fans.
There’s also a ‘Live Feed’ tab which Seenth.is says will provide fan updates from individual gigs and events, an in-app media player to actually listen to music, and the ability to get alerts on individual artists.
The app is nicely designed, although you have to view each artist’s feed individually: you can’t aggregate your saved artists’ updates into a single feed. Anyway, it’s one worth watching.
