We’ve seen a fair few mobile apps in our time that aim to help people discover and check-in at local music concerts. They haven’t tended to catch on. Can Tyünz buck the trend? It launched on Friday as a free download for iPhone, US-only for now, described as “the ultimate music discovery app for Music Fans and Performers”. Why? “Unlike other apps which pull show data from the same database, Tyünz allows performers to create and post their own shows in real-time,” explains its App Store listing. Fans can find out about nearby gigs, check in and post photos from the events, and follow artists that they like to keep tabs on their upcoming concerts. Meanwhile, artists can manage their profiles and get analytics on fans who come to see them. It looks like a nice app, but as with all those predecessors, its challenge is getting installed and used by enough fans to make it useful for consumers and artists alike.
