Two things have been clear in the last six months: first, that Rdio is striking some clever partnerships (Shazam, SoundHound, Twitter, The Guardian etc); and second, that the service is growing steadily more popular. Its latest deal may boost that: Rdio and Live Nation are teaming up, with the streaming service now providing audio streams on the main LiveNation.com website. It’ll also have a presence at a number of festivals in the coming months. How to measure the popularity though? CEO Drew Larner has provided a few metrics to Billboard, including the fact that Rdio has topped the free music apps chart on iOS in the US, Australia, Canada, the UK and Mexico in recent months – a notable boost on previous chart positions in those countries. Larner also suggests Facebook-sharing for Rdio is on the rise, and that seems true: AppData shows that the service has more than 1m monthly active Facebook-connected users now, even if that’s still some way behind Deezer and Spotify.
