Amid all the recent speculation about Vevo switching distribution deals from YouTube to someone else, few thought to mention that Vevo already had another syndication deal with video service Dailymotion, albeit only in the US. Now the deal is expanding to Europe: France, Ireland, Italy, Spain and the UK. That means Vevo’s catalogue of more than 75k music videos will now be available through Dailymotion in those countries. “Music is one of our most popular areas, so we are very excited to extend our partnership with Vevo on this,” says Dailymotion’s EMEA head of content Marc Eychenne. While Vevo’s main deal with YouTube has now been extended – complete with Google’s video service taking a stake in the company – the Dailymotion deal is a sign of Vevo’s ambitions to push its content out through other partners too.
