One of the most interesting SoundCloud accounts to follow right now is the one for independent label Federal Prism, run by musician and producer Dave Sitek. “Somewhere along the line music became ‘content’… It’s my full intention to bring it back to music again!” explains its profile. “With Federal Prism I want to make hand-held music, undiminished by the need to make everybody in the world listen at once.” One way he’s doing that is by releasing individual stems for a range of tracks from his own TV On The Radio, CSS, Telepathe, Oh Land and other artists through SoundCloud. The stems are all downloadable as WAV files for people to tweak and remix to their heart’s content. The stems were all added in the last week, although as far as we can tell, there’s no specific place that remixers are being encouraged to upload and share their creations – SoundCloud, presumably.
