Keek t’s a social video app that’s quietly become a significant force, attracting 58m users with another 250k signing up every day. That’s according to VentureBeat, which reports that Keek is raising a $100m funding round that would value the company at up to $900m, armed with the support of the celebrity Kardashian clan, who have millions of followers on Keek. The app is available for Android, iOS, Windows Phone and BlackBerry, and is based around sharing videos of up to 36 seconds in length on Keek, which can also push them out to Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr. Some musicians have big followings on the service too, especially younger pop stars: Ariana Grande has 1.5m followers, for example. While the tech and media worlds have been focusing on Vine and Instagram – yes, us included – Keek has been building a massive audience of its own. The question now is whether it can sustain this popularity longer than past video-sharing hits like Viddy and Socialcam.
