Pearl-Jam-Google-+-SoundCloud-2-1024x522

SoundCloud and Google have been pretty chummy in recent months: the former was one of the first streaming audio services to integrate Google+ sign-in for users back in May. Now their partnership has gone a step on with a new sharing mechanic for SoundCloud audio on Google’s social network. “Share any SoundCloud URL to your Google+ circles and the widget will appear, automatically in the post,” explains SoundCloud in a blog post. “That also means that you (and your followers!) can play sounds from SoundCloud within Google+: no need to open up a new tab.” Artists including Snoop Lion, Pearl Jam and Armin Van Buuren are already using the widgets on their Google+ profiles, complete with related #soundcloudplus hashtag. And while this is a small (if neat) iteration in the scheme of things, we suspect SoundCloud’s work with Google is doing great things for its SEO – in turn cementing its importance for the artists and labels using it.
