Ticketmaster’s CEO Nathan Hubbard is leaving the company after being “pushed out” by parent firm Live Nation, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. While some of its sources claim dischord between Hubbard and Live Nation boss Michael Rapino, there’s also a strong hint that digital disruption may have played a role in Hubbard’s departure too. The WSJ suggests that Live Nation is looking for a “tech guru” to run Ticketmaster and “expand the ticketing platform into a major e-commerce site”. Jared Smith, currently president of Ticketmaster North America, is already being tipped as a possible replacement for Hubbard, with an expanded global role, and the more-digital focus. Smith joined Ticketmaster in 2003, and was appointed to his current role in May 2013, having previously been the company’s chief operating officer.
