A significant milestone for Twitter’s Vine video-sharing app was announced, they’ve signed more than 40 million people. Thank you for inspiring us,” tweeted the official Vine account. That means Vine has added 27m users since June, when it launched its Android version and announced that the iPhone version had attracted 13m people. What’s unclear for now is how many of those 40m Vine users are active, both in terms of using the Vine app, and actually posting videos through it. That said, Vine’s reach goes beyond its community of users thanks to Twitter: for example, musicians tweeting out their Vine videos means those clips can be seen by all their fans, regardless of whether they have signed up to Vine or not. According to analytics service Topsy, the number of daily tweets including Vine links tends to be between 600k and 700k.
