Pop stars should not be turned to for tips on grammar, punctuation and spelling. You only need to look to Slade or Prince for proof of that. So spare a thought for poor Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber whose tweets are being used in schools in Brazil as examples of how not to write English. The terrifyingly named Celeb Grammar Cops are a group of children aged between eight and 13 who spot deficient tweets and then send their suggestions for how they should have been written to the Red Balloon English language school’s Twitter account. This could prove to either be a new form of tough love or just the next wave of celebrity trolling.
